Vines you expect because they are cultivated. More exotic things, such as oranges or the avocado tree next door, are not unexpected, but the north of Tenerife never stops providing surprises and one in particular, if you are more familiar with the barren south of Tenerife - or even the rural English landscape - is that, among the more expected palm trees and cactus, the roadsides here are also lined with blackberry brambles. (Do be careful where you pick them from though as, on main roads they may well have been treated with pesticides and other chemicals, as well as having been choked by a steady stream of exhaust fumes.)
