Maybe this is corny?

But sharing the same field as the safflower and, which earlier in the year was growing potatoes, there are these rows of millo (maize, or sweetcorn).

As well as being the base ingredient of one of the varieties of the islands' native foodstuffs, gofio (my preferred variety), corncobs are also essential for a number of typically Canarian dishes, such as Costillas con piñas (Potatoes with corncobs and pork ribs and served with coriander sauce); Puchero (Canary Islands Stew) or in Potaje de Berros (Watercress pottage).
