Sunday, June 13th this year was the day of La Orotava's Romería de San Isidro (this image is from 2009) possibly the largest of these folk fiestas on the island: this one honours Isidore the Laborer, a Spanish day labourer known for his goodness toward the poor and animals - which usually boasts something in the region of 70 odd ox carts, around 25,000 people and a veritable river of free local wine.
Here also are a couple of video reports, produced by La Orotava's Town Hall, which will give you a more animated impression of the events. The first is of La Romería de La Orotava 2008 and the second is of the Romería de San Isidro in 2009.
