It is no surprise that around islands, sailing is a popular pastime - for anyone including royalty - and there are various sailing clubs around the archipelago, such as the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife, who organized the regatta you can see in this set of photos. If you are just visiting, there are many who offer sailing trips out of Los Cristianos, Puerto Colon, Los Gigantes, etc. This photo is from a day, way back, when I was offered the chance to go out on a privately chartered yacht - for nothing - and volunteered for "galley slave" duties to "pay my passage". It was a 42 footer, I think. I know nothing whatsoever about sailing, except that I was hooked from that moment on. Pity I can't afford pursue it, really!
