Anniversary of the Derrame del vino

The Derrame del Vino, which took place on the night of July 3rd, 1666, is when local wine growers of Garachico poured gallons wine down the drain, in protest over ruinous prices, putting an end to the British monopoly of the sector.

There's even this statue in Garachico to celebrate putting those dastardly Brits in their place. See it along the sea-front road in the town.
